Alumna Recovery Testimonial

January 23rd is the one year anniversary of my discharge from The Renfrew Center of Florida for residential treatment.
I'm in a completely different place than I was last year. At this point last year, I was struggling to eat and my mom was worried that I was going to pass out. Today, no one is worried about me passing out and I am weight restored now. I am not exercising to lose weight. I haven't self-harmed in eight months and haven't purged in eleven months.
Also, I just finished my first semester of college; I have come so far in just a year! I am still recovering, but recovery is a process that doesn't happen overnight. I am so proud of how far I've come and I am looking forward to see how far I will go.
Renfrew taught me how to sit with my emotions and not self-harm. My team has also taught me that I am stronger than I think I am. Currently I am participating in The Renfrew Center of Chicago's Outpatient Group which has been so supportive. I am forever grateful to my treatment teams at The Renfrew Center.
