From the alumna, "In my eating disorder, I give so much power to arbitrary numbers, setting unrealistic goals that only enhance the constant rumination of numbers in vs. numbers out. I was never great at math, but suddenly in my eating disorder, i could add up a day's worth of food instantly and easily. It makes my head want to explode - it's exhausted from constant calculation and from trying to simultaneously function int he real world despite no more brain space. We let numbers occupy so much valuable space in our minds, when they are completely insubstantial."
